Mending & Amending PoemS (MAPS!)

Hello!  I am here to help you sharpen and deepen your poetic vision.

I am a veteran English teacher/Poetry professor with 25+ years experience. I’ve worked as an MFA thesis advisor, freelance poetry consultant, artistic collaborator. For several years, I served as an Alice James Books editorial board member. I am also the author of five published books of poetry. I received my undergraduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College, and my MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

I will be happy to help you revise and map out full-sized manuscripts, chapbooks, and/or a small batch of poems you’d like to more fully realize!

As I’ve done over the decades with my students, I will encourage you to cultivate your own particular aesthetic.  I am appreciative of a diverse, eclectic range of poetic styles and voices.

E-mail me if interested in setting up a brief virtual consultation to make sure that I am a good match for your poetic interests and needs.

Information about the pricing structure can be given in the consultation or through e-mail.

Alessandra Lynch, a trusted reader of my work for many years, is adept at finding the song within my poetry and leading me to it in an exciting and encouraging way. Her keen perceptions and ideas for how to hone my work often leave me invigorated and ready to write beyond my boundaries. Alessandra's sensitive ear and readiness with imagination are invaluable for any poet and their work.

Natalie Solmer, editor of the Indianapolis Review

I very much appreciated Alessandra’s dive into my poems. Our session felt more than thorough! I have lots of ideas for revision.
